every time I see someone making fun of animorphs I get really irritated
like, you can laugh about it in a benign way if you want, that’s fine, but if you diss that series then you deserve a royal fuck-you fist up the ass because that series was top notch. it was a YA novel, amd it dealt with shit like domestic violence, good being bot always good, interspecies relationships… one of the characters was a fucking BIRD, and half his development arc was discovering that being a bird is totally ok and he can still kick ass and kiss the girl if he wants and the final scene was basically the worst cliffhanger ever
I mean what kind of kids series ends with ‘EVERYBODY DIES AND NOBODY IS HAPPY THE END’
a fucking awesome one is what. it was like ten levels above droon, (albeit substantially less gay,) and I thought that series was the bees knees when I was a kid.
and if you don’t think that’s the tightest shit, then get outta my face.
it took me A LOT of work to convince one of my best friends that Animorphs wasn’t a stupid book series not worthy of anyone’s time. It ticks me off, because the people who have the most contempt for it are the people who also never bothered to find out what it’s about. Why read the back of the book when you can just laugh at the covers and anyone who likes the series for the next decade or so?
The back of the books were allways pretty corny and lame anyway though, to be fair.
And what you don’t know by reading the back cover is that the main race of baddies are LITERAL PHLEGM BLOBS THAT WRIGGLE INTO YOUR EAR CANAL WHILE CAUSING EXCRUCIATING PAIN AND THEN LITERALLY SPREAD THEMSELVES OVER YOUR LOBES LIKE FUCKIN’ BRAIN JELLY AND CONTROL YOUR MIND
and also that andalites eat by absorbing things though their feet which I think is pretty awesome.
